Many people have this problem: a lot of black spots suddenly appear on white shirts, and some clothes even have moldy deterioration, local deterioration, darkened surface color, and loss of gloss. In the rainy season, this phenomenon is even more serious.
So why is clothing easy to mold?
1. Mold is the main cause of mold in clothing, and the root cause of mold reproduction is humid environment. China's geographical environment features high air humidity in the south and suitable high temperatures, which provide a powerful environment for mold growth.
2. The main materials of clothing are cotton, linen, leather, silk, woolen cloth, chemical fiber, etc., which have high moisture content and easy to absorb water. For example, leather products are very prone to mold. The moisture content of leather is generally more than 14%, even as high as 18%. When the moisture content exceeds 12%, there is a risk of mold.
3. Unclean clothing is another cause of mold. If the oil stains, sweat stains, etc. on clothes are not washed, it will easily cause bacteria to grow.
4. Improper storage method. It is especially susceptible to mildew if the clothes are stored without being completely dried. The basic requirement for clothing storage is a dry and ventilated environment to avoid direct sunlight. Clothing of different materials has different storage methods. When the season comes, when unused clothes are ready to be stored, it is best to wipe the clothes with clean water or alcohol solution, such as the neckline, cuffs, and placket of clothes that are easily contaminated. You need to fully dry the clothes before stacking. If mildew spots appear on the leather clothes, wipe them with soap or water or wash them with a towel, rinse them with water, dry them thoroughly, and then coat the jacket with oil. Places where clothes are stored, such as cabinets, storage boxes, etc. also need to be checked. When the weather is usually good, open the closet door to clean and let it dry. There are actually a lot of molds in the unnoticed places such as the sides of the wardrobe. Be sure to clean it up. Keep the wardrobe dry and airy. The southern Huitian is the most time to mold. Purchase a desiccant with good moisture absorption properties in advance, such as Chunwang desiccant, dehumidifier box, etc., and put it in the locker. Spread some dry newspaper on the bottom. Do not underestimate the effect of desiccant. These inconspicuous small objects can protect the items well, and prevent moisture and mildew.
5. For those who export clothing. If you do not pay attention to moisture protection during transportation, it may cause huge losses. After the finished clothing is packed, it is put in a carton and then shipped by container. During ocean transportation, the temperature and humidity inside the container change dramatically. Excess water vapor will condense, drop along the container wall or directly onto the cargo, forming a container rain, which greatly exacerbates the risk of product moisture and mold. China is a big trading country. According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, from January to August 2016, China's cumulative export value of textiles and clothing reached US $ 178.337 billion. If it is exposed to moisture and mold during marine transportation, the losses will be huge. Therefore, it is necessary to do the protection work in advance. Putting a pack of clothing desiccant inside the carton or plastic bag, and hanging 8 to 12 container desiccants on the container wall and the top of the container can effectively prevent the product from being mildewed by the container rain and reduce the risk of cargo loss.
